I'm Damen Smith. I founded Nordic Design Collective, a creative agency and product studio based in Miami. We build software and design for clients and ship our own products. I find problems and solve them. Design thinking shapes the answer. Software ships it.

NDC is the most established of several ventures I'm building. The current NDC portfolio includes PATTRN (a pattern designer for textiles and surfaces), AMPLIFYR (a tool for independent musicians and the people who market them), and VOYA (in planning). I also built and use a custom AI agent system called NORD to run the company day-to-day. NORD is becoming STROM, an enterprise AI operating system we'll eventually be selling. I'm writing a book. A few other ventures are in the works. More on those when they're ready.

This site is where I write about the work. Mostly problem-solving in practice, with some observations on tech and AI from inside the build, the tools I'm making, and the occasional recalibration when I've been wrong. The writing is downstream of the building.
